Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama http://www.rkmsvrind.org began in 1907 as a charitable dispensary in Uttar Pradesh , a state in North India and has now grown to a 165 bedded charitable hospital having divisions of General Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopedics, Dentistry, Pediatrics, gynecology & Obstetrics, Pathology, Radiology, Physiotherapy, Homoeopathy, Yoga, Ayurveda etc .
Vrindavan being a major pilgrim centre in India , the hospital caters to a large number of pilgrims as well as patients from neighbouring areas. The Sevashrama offers medical service including surgeries , blood, diet and various medical tests to poor patients and also to patients in remote rural villages through its Mobile Medical Unit, free of cost.
The hospital contacted us in November 2010 as they had recently procured a Siemens dual slice Somattam Spirit CT Scan machine , the use of which significantly overloaded their radiology department . We were contacted by Swami Mokshavratananda with a request to use teleradiology to address their needs . Being a global leader in this field , and this being a charitable endeavour , we took this up under the aegis of Telerad Foundation .
Interesting and challenging cases included
24 hours support - A great help to an institution like theirs which is situated in a rural area
Increased Availability of Services: upto 30% increase as far as radiology is concerned
Upto 60 % Improvement in Quality
A 50% increase in patient satisfaction
A 20 % increase in Key Health Output: (But for Telerad Foundation these patients would have been referred elsewhere)
Achievement of a Health Outcome: Prompt, efficient and speedy reporting and readiness to clarify or review any reports already issued helped them to take a proper decision on time.
