Case Study No: 04

Patient Details: Gauri/Female/26 Yrs

PHC Name: Dungra, Vapi, Valsad, Gujarat

Presenting Complaint: Gynaec issues

Consultation/Follow-up Date: January 23, 2025

Gauri Sukla, a 26-year-old student from Dungra village, was struggling with a gynaecological issue. Deeply focused on her studies, she couldn’t find time to travel to Vapi for a doctor’s visit, leaving her to manage her symptoms on her own. Concerned, she confided in her mother, who then spoke to a staff nurse at the local PHC. That’s when they learned about the telemedicine centre, which had recently reopened after a six-month pause.

With her mother’s support, Gauri visited the Phygital Centre, where she met telemedicine nurse Lalita who facilitated her teleconsultation with Dr Soumyashri N, an Obstetrician & Gynaecologist at the Bayer-supported telemedicine centre. The consultation made all the difference—she received the right medication and preventive care, leading to a significant improvement in her condition. At her latest check-up, the doctor reviewed her progress, reinforced hygiene tips, and addressed any lingering concerns.

The service saved her time, money, and the inconvenience of long hospital visits. Though she was initially hesitant to discuss her condition remotely, she now feels more confident seeking medical help. She suggests adding more privacy and ensuring female doctors are available for sensitive consultations.

Despite minor challenges, Gauri is grateful for the care she received and actively encourages other women in her village to use the Phygital Centre for safe, discreet, and accessible healthcare.
