Case Study No: 09
Patient Details: Nirankar/Male/56 Yrs
PHC Name: Dungra, Vapi, Valsad, Gujarat
Presenting Complaint: Chronic body and joint Pain
Consultation/Follow-up Date: February 11, 2025
Nirankar, a 56-year-old farmer from Chhiri village, suffered from chronic body pain and joint stiffness. With no specialist available at the local health centre, he had no option but to endure the pain or rely on painkillers for temporary relief.
That changed when a neighbour introduced him to Jashodaben, the Phygital Centre nurse. Through the telemedicine service, Nirankar consulted Dr Akram, who advised him on lifestyle changes, exercises, and medications. Recognizing the need for specialized care, Dr Akram referred him to physiotherapist Ms Pouravi (MPT). The physiotherapy consultation, conducted via telemedicine, involved the GNM Jashodaben assisting with physical exams under Ms Pouravi guidance. Based on the findings, the physiotherapist recommended specific exercises and even provided a customised exercise chart for easy reference.
With support from the GNM and access to prescribed medicines from the Chhiri PHC pharmacy, Nirankar found the service simple and effective. Since starting treatment, his pain and stiffness have reduced, improving his mobility and quality of life. Regular follow-ups have helped track his progress and ensure continued relief.
The Phygital Centre telemedicine unit has been a game-changer, saving him both time and money by eliminating the need for long-distance travel while offering free consultations. Nirankar now confidently recommends the service to others in his village, appreciating its accessibility, the availability of multiple specialists who are caring and compassionate, and the telemedicine centre staff, who are always helpful. He believes the initiative is making a meaningful impact on rural healthcare and improving the lives of people in his community.
