Patient Details: Parmatma/Male/53 Yrs
PHC Name: Dungra, Vapi, Valsad, Gujarat
Presenting Complaint: coughing and breathing difficulties
Consultation/Follow-up Date: February 15, 2025
Parmatma, a 53-year-old farmer from Dungra Village, had been struggling with persistent coughing and breathing difficulties. He had tried multiple doctors and home remedies, but the relief was always temporary—his symptoms would subside for a few days only to return within a week. The constant coughing disrupted his sleep and often woke up his family at night, leaving him frustrated. Just as he was considering a trip to Valsad for specialised care, a neighbour told him about the Phygital PHC Telemedicine Centre project at Dungra PHC, where experienced doctors from various specialties provide consultations via video calls. Even better, the service included free medicines and basic tests at the PHC.
Encouraged by his friend’s advice, Parmatma visited the Bayer-supported telemedicine centre at Dungra PHC. The telemedicine coordinator and staff nurse took his vitals, created his case, and connected him with Dr Sharath BS, a specialist associated with the Telrad Foundation’s telemedicine project since 2022. His visit to the Phygital Centre in December turned out to be a turning point in his health journey.
With Dr Sharath’s expert guidance and proper care, Parmatma’s condition improved significantly—his coughing reduced, and he finally regained control over his health and sleep. At his follow-up appointment on February 15, 2025, the doctor advised him on lifestyle changes, including ways to avoid dust and improve his diet.
Grateful for the convenience and effectiveness of the service, Parmatma thanked GNM Lalita and now actively encourages his neighbours to visit the Phygital Centre, recognising its positive impact on rural healthcare.
