THE PROBLEM
Eight to fourteen hours a day, and no one checks their eyes.
A long-distance driver reads road signs, judges closing speeds and picks hazards out of oncoming headlight glare for most of their waking day. Refractive error takes all of that away quietly — there is no pain, no obvious moment when it starts, and no reason for a driver to name it as a problem.
It is also entirely correctable with a pair of spectacles. The barrier is not medicine. It is that nobody offers the test, and when they do, nobody has the spectacles to hand over.

Two clinics, already open, already free.
Telerad Foundation runs dedicated primary healthcare centres for truck drivers, co-drivers, helpers and their families at two transhipment hubs. Free consultations, free medicines, and routine screening for HIV, TB, diabetes and vision — every service at no cost to the driver.

A qualified optometrist already tests every driver who walks in. The screening is funded. The prescription is written. What we run out of is the spectacles themselves — so drivers who need them walk back to the highway without them.

Same-day handover matters more than it sounds. A driver who is told to come back next week is on a different highway by then. Give him the spectacles before he leaves and he keeps them.

Yes. Funds raised through this campaign are used to procure and distribute corrective spectacles at the Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru and Sankari, Salem centres. The unit cost is fixed at ₹200 per complete pair.

Yes. We publish periodic updates on the campaign page with distribution numbers from both centres, and write to donors when the programme hits a milestone.
