Background
Long-distance truck drivers form the backbone of India’s supply chain but face heightened health risks due to prolonged driving hours, sedentary work conditions, irregular diets, stress, and limited access to preventive healthcare.
As part of a collaborative CSR initiative to expand access to preventive and primary healthcare for long-distance truckers and allied population, Apollo Tyres Foundation (ATF), under the aegis of Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre, Sankari organised a two-day Mega Health Camp for long-distance truck drivers at the Sankari–Salem IOCL transit terminal, Tamil Nadu.
This intervention builds on ATF’s decade-long engagement with the trucking community, supported by a nationwide network of over 30 primary healthcare clinics located at major transshipment hubs. In addition to fixed clinics, ATF deploys mobile healthcare units and telemedicine platforms to ensure continuity of care for a highly mobile workforce.
The camp was conducted at a logistics transit terminal where drivers halt temporarily for rest and operations, enabling access to healthcare without disrupting livelihoods.
