Peer Educators Felicitation Programme
Project: Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre, Yeshwanthpur
Under: Healthcare for Long Distance Truckers and Allied Population
Event Location | Date: Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre, Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru, Karnataka | 19 January 2026
Partners: Apollo Tyres Foundation (CSR Partner), Telerad Foundation (Implementing Partner)
Background
Long-distance truck drivers form a highly mobile and dispersed community, making sustained healthcare outreach challenging through conventional facility-based models alone. To bridge this gap, the Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre (ATHCC) programme integrates Peer Educators as a core component of its community engagement and service delivery strategy.
Peer Educators are individuals embedded within trucking ecosystems at major transshipment hubs such as Yeshwanthpur. These include tea vendors, dhaba owners, mechanics at truck repair garages, pan shop owners, attendants at public sanitation facilities, and small hotel operators—places that truck drivers routinely visit during rest stops and halts.
Through everyday transactional interactions, Peer Educators play a vital role in:
- Creating awareness about ATHCC services and facilities
- Guiding drivers to nearby Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centres across the national network
- Encouraging timely health check-ups, screenings, and follow-up care
- Reinforcing health education messages on priority conditions
