Truck drivers and allied transport workers spend long hours on the road and often have limited opportunities for routine health check-ups. Early detection of infectious diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), HIV and syphilis is a particular concern for this mobile workforce.
To address this, the Apollo Tyres Healthcare Centre (ATHCC), Yeshwanthpur, organised a satellite health camp on 6 November 2026 at the Federation of Karnataka Lorry Owners’ Association (FKLOA), Yeshwanthpur, Bengaluru. The camp aimed to detect TB cases through chest X-ray and sputum testing, with the support of the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). To also detect HIV and syphilis cases, it was organised in liaison with NTEP and the State AIDS Control Society (SACS).
To draw in more people and widen the benefit, vision screening with free spectacle distribution, random blood sugar (GRBS) screening and other regular services were offered alongside the TB, HIV and syphilis screening.
