What: Healthcare centres in the busy transport hubs of Hyderabad and Karimnagar, Telangana, giving truckers, cleaners and associated population access to general physicians, counsellors, optometrists and social workers. These centres offer testing services for HIV, diabetes, vision problems and TB, and provide free medication and healthcare maintenance support. The programme is aligned with Sustainable Development Goals (Goal3: Good Health and Well-being)

Activities

  • Behaviour Change Communication (BCC): to bring attitude and behavior change through effecting communication on modes of transmission, prevention methods, myths and misconceptions pertaining to HIV. Awareness on vision care and other communicable and non-communicable disease
  • Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) diagnosis & treatment: to provide quality services, accessible and free from discrimination through Health Care Centre
  • Condom Promotion: Promoting the use of condom and a method for dual protection as well as increasing the availability of condoms in program area
  • Peer Educators (PEs): develop and sustain peers from the same community within program area to reach out maximum target population

  • HIV Screening: develop linkages with State AIDS Control Society to make available HIV testing services at the health care centre
  • Diabetes & Vision Screening: providing services for diabetes & vision screening through static clinic & health check-up camps
  • Referral & Linkages: develop network with private-public service providers’ at all levels
  • Stakeholder Engagement: engage the local stakeholders and establish the community-based organization or leverage the existing community-based organization to take ownership of the program
